The Backyard
Cereus and Stoney are spending another quiet weekend camping in the backyard — nothing more than an idle Zippo, a dying fire, and easy banter about getting out more. Then a strange, metallic wail cuts through the night, and Stoney’s easy confidence disappears. He points a trembling finger across the yard, toward the house. Cereus looks. Standing in the window, staring directly back at him, is himself.
